Ulf Grawunder, PhD

Chief Executive Officer, co-Founder & Board member

Ulf is a co-founder of T-CURX. Prior to assuming the role of CEO at T-CURX in 2022, Ulf was CEO and Board member at NBE-Therapeutics, a Swiss Biotech company that he founded in 2012 and which was focused on the development of antibody drug conjugates. Ulf has gained 20 years of experience in founding and building Biotech companies from the ground up and bringing them to an exit. T-CURX is the 3rd Biotech start-up copmpany that Ulf has co-founded. Prior to T-CURX he had co-founded 4-Antibody AG, Basel Switzerland in 2004, which was sold to U.S.-based Agenus in 2012, and NBE-Therapeutics in 2012, which was sold to Boehringer Ingelheim, Germany, in 2021. At both companies, Ulf raised over € 90 Mio in venture funding and he was instrumental in negotiating commercial agreements worth over € 1 billion in aggregate deal volume.

Ulf holds a Diploma in Biochemistry from the University of Bayreuth, Germany, and obtained his PhD from the University of Basel in 1994 for work performed at the Basel Institute for Immunology, a triple-nobel prize awarded research institute. After his PhD, he performed several years of post-doctoral research in the U.S., both at Washington University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, MO, and at University of Southern California (USC), in Los Angeles, CA. After his post-doctoral research in the U.S. he returned to Europe to become principal investigator at the Basel Institute for Immunology, Switzerland, the University of Ulm, Germany, and the University of Basel, Switzerland. Ulf has published over 40 peer reviewed papers in immunology and cell biology and he is inventor of 15 granted and pending patents.

Ulf is Vice-President and Board member of the Swiss Biotech Association (SBA, www.swissbiotech.org), Managing Director of Viopas Venture Consulting (www.viopasventure.ch). Ulf also holds a diploma in Technology Entrepreneurship from the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law of the University St. Gallen, Switzerland (www.es.unisg.ch).
